Central Appalachian Network — The Central Appalachian Network (CAN) is a multi-state network of rural organizations working to build a healthy regional economy in central Appalachia. CAN promotes economic justice through ecologically sustainable rural development strategies, local self-reliance and innovative community building. CAN builds flexible partnerships among community-based economic development organizations, government agencies, universities and other groups concerned with economic development.

The CAN member organizations include Appalachian Sustainable Development, Appalachian Center for Economic Networks, Center for Economic Options, Institute for Local Government and Rural Development at Ohio University, MACED and Rural Action.
